Bishopston 0 Cimla 6
After a poor performance in mid-week in losing against title challengers Garden Village, the girls responded well with a brilliant performance against Bishopston to record our biggest win of the season. We dominated the early stages but were unable to break the deadlock. Despite this we kept pushing forward and were eventually rewarded when Charlotte Smith attacked down the right and played an excellent ball into Holly Jarvis who finished well past the Bishopston keeper. We continued the push forward driven on by our midfielders Emily Havard, Chelsey Harris and Sophia Rees who saw a long range effort rebound off the crossbar. When Bishopston did attack our defence held strong with some excellent tackling in particular from Lucia O’Shea, Kimberly McClarnon and Rhiannon Edwards. Despite our possession we were unable to add to our score reaching half time at 1-0.
In the second half we continued pushing forward in particular down the left hand wing with both Hayley Needs and Kayhlan Norgrove making some excellent runs. Eventually our superiority started to tell and the Bishopston defence had difficulty in dealing with the pace of Holly Jarvis who added another two goals with great finishes to complete her second hat-trick of the season. Then Sophia Rees who had an outstanding game got the goal her performance deserved with a great finish to make it 4-0. Bishopston to their credit did not drop their heads and continued to try and play football and on two occasions broke free of our defence but our keeper Beth Harvey came off her line well to make some good blocks. In the last five minutes as the Bishopston team started to tire we scored a further two goals from Charlotte Smith with a good finish and Kimberly McClarnon with a close range effort.
Well done girls - probably our best performance of the season and should give us some confidence for the four remaining league games.
