The Cimla team faced another away fixture with this trip to Pontardawe Blacks. Despite excellent results away from home recently, the team knew that this was likely to be a difficult game, having lost the reverse fixture at home 3-1.

A bright start from the home side saw Ponty have several half chances with a blustery wind at their backs. Cameron had taken up the early goal keeping duties and looked confident between the posts, making good distances on clearing kicks despite the wind. Cimla managed to pass the ball well and create several chances of their own mainly on the counter attack with the Ponty midfield pushing well forward, but their defenders performed really well in breaking up the attacks. The Cimla team forced a succession of corners with one resulting in Owen scoring direct from the corner via a deflection. With Toby and Steffan always looking dangerous in attack and James, Calim and Sam looking assured in defence Cimla began to look comfortable. Halfway through the 1st half Steffan replaced Cameron in goals and he made an instant impact when another Cimla attack resulted in Cameron smashing the ball into the top corner after being played in by Owen. The game continued to be evenly contested and saw good attacks for both sides as the 1st half came to an end.

Confidence was high at half-time and Owen started the 2nd half in goal. The second period began with Ponty on the attack trying to claw back the two-goal deficit and unlucky not to pull one back. However Steffan broke through on goal powering his way through the Ponty defence to make it 3-0. There followed a spell of pressure from the home side, resulting in a number of corners but the defence held firm. With Dylan, Luciana and Luke working hard in midfield, Ponty got their deserved goal after several attempts to clear from defence resulted in the ball falling to a Ponty attacker who toke his chance well. Cimla almost got a 4th goal when Cameron when on a surging run, but was brought down 20 yards from goal. The freekick was layed off by Steffan to Cameron who`s shot hit the crossbar. Ponty finished strongly but the boys held firm to see an excellent game of football end 3-1.

With one more away game left to Bryncoch Blacks, Cimla will look confident in trying to finish the season unbeaten from the remaining fixtures.
