The Cimla team set up for this game with Matthew and Morgan sharing the goal-keeping duties for the first half. All of the players were keen to get involved in the game following the disappointment of a cancelled match last week due to a frozen pitch.
The Cimla team got off to a great start when an early strike from Steffan put them a goal to the good. Steffan then turned provider as he put in a cross for Cameron to finish and extend the Cimla lead. Bryn then put together some attacks of their own but these were broken up by some excellent defensive work from Sam who was ably assisted at times by Ben and Dafydd. Cimla further extended their lead when Cameron returned the favour from the second goal to play in Steffan who finished to give Cimla a three-goal lead. Bryn continued to battle and good work from their keeper was to deny an effort from Calim, which came after Owen had been forced wide of the goal. Then, good defensive work from Ben saw him break up a promising Bryn attack and play the ball forward to Owen who raced through the visiting defence and finish neatly to make the score 4-0 at half-time.
Half-time tactical changes saw the decision taken for Steffan and Dylan on debut to share the goal-keeping responsibilities for the second period.
The second half began with Matthew involved in some good defensive work to break up a promising Bryn attack, and he fed the ball to Calim, who raced half the length of the field to play in Cameron who finished expertly for the first goal of the half. Both sides continued to battle well as the game became increasingly stretched, and this allowed increasing room for both Luke and Luciana to have more time on the ball. During this period, Bryn also kept the home goalkeeper busier than at any other period of the match. Then a good ball into the Bryn box fell to Morgan who finished well for 6-0. Steffan’s hat trick was to follow when a good ball in from Cameron was touched on by Dafydd for Steffan to finish. Cameron was not to be outdone as he then also completed his own hat trick to make the final score 8-0.
The boys will look forward to their upcoming matches with confidence taken from this good win, but will need to focus well in the coming weeks as they face a sequence of potentially very difficult matches
