An early morning and cold start for this week’s fixture, as the Cimla side hoped to further improve its home record. The initial line-up saw Cameron start in goal, with Morgan, Luke and Sam on the bench. The home side made a fantastic start when Calim’s ball out of defence found Owen, who with some nifty footwork fed in an excellent ball for Toby to fire home to open the scoring. This well worked goal was greeted by some generous applause from the traveling Briton Ferry support. Only minutes later a ball out of the Cimla defence by Dafydd was to find Owen, who in an almost carbon copy of the first goal, fed in Steffan who finished to give the home side a two goal advantage. Despite this crackerjack start from Cimla the Briton Ferry side then began to find it’s own form and went on the attack. Some even play followed as both sides managed to force corner kicks. Briton Ferry tried to utilize the short corner but this was well broken up by Morgan as the Cimla side made substitutions. Pressure started to increase on the Cimla side. Then an unfortunate slip from the outstanding Dafydd in defence saw him end up on the deck as the Briton Ferry striker was put through on goal, and despite a fantastic first stop from Calim who had replaced Cameron in goal, the ball was to rebound to the second striker who was left with a simple tap-in. This was to be the last significant action of the first half, which ended with the home side holding a 2-1 advantage.
Owen was given the goalkeeping duties at the start of the second half, which saw the away side start strongly and continue to pressurize the Cimla goal. Despite the best efforts of the Cimla defence to hold out, the Briton Ferry team was rewarded with an equalizing goal. At this stage it seemed that the away team were in the ascendancy, and may be able to go on and complete an amazing turn around in the score. The Cimla side however, had other ideas, and began to battle back as they managed to force a corner and Cameron produced an effort which was well saved by the keeper. An important tactical change saw Luke replace Owen in goal. Then a defensive free kick was awarded to Cimla when Steffan was tripped near his own goal. As this was eventually cleared by Calim, the ball was put forward to Cameron whose excellent run and shot across the Briton Ferry goal found Owen who finished neatly giving the home side a very hard fought 3-2 victory.
