Under 10's Match Report
Cimla Rovers recorded their best result of the season so far away to a spirited Pontardawe Reds team. The first goal came in the opening 2 minutes as the ball was worked out to Nathan Lazda on the left hand side, he cut inside the last defender and coolly struck the ball into the net. This was followed a minute later as Sam Davies found himself in the same spot as Nathan with the same result. Most teams would have struggled having conceded 2 in the first couple of minutes, but Ponty showed great character and battled for everything, holding Cimla for much of the remaining time in the first half. Cimla got back to scoring just before half time as Nathan turned provider twice in quick succession, both times slotting Aaron Lupton in to finish with style. A couple of minutes into the second half a speculative long range effort from Callum Preece slipped through the grasp of the Ponty keeper for Cimla to go 5-0 up. Again Ponty showed their mettle by dominating the game for the next ten minutes or so, and got the reward of a consolation goal. It was well deserved as they hand not let their heads drop for the whole game. With the game drawing to a close Cimla scored 3 more, Sam tapped in a rebounded shot off the post, Ben Stevens got in on the act with a cracking strike that left the keeper no chance and Nathan finished it off with his second of the game. A good confidence boost for Cimla, there will be tougher games to come though.
