Under 10's Match Report

Cimla Rovers made the daunting trip to what is probably the strongest team in the area, Pontardawe Blacks. Straight from the kick off the Cimla boys made every effort to disrupt the Pontardawe pattern of play by pressurising the players as soon as they received the ball. This looked to be working well for the first 15 minutes, Pontardawe chances were few and far between and Cimla had a couple of opportunities as well. The deadlock was finally broken in a disappointing way, as a weak shot somehow managed to sneak past the excellent Ben Stevens into the Cimla net. The lads did not let it get to them and they continued to spoil Ponty's game until half time, 1-0 down but not yet out. Ponty turned up the pressure in the second half and the high tempo defensive strategy was starting to tire the Cimla boys, gaps were starting to open up and the boys were pinned in their own half. They must have been convinced it wasn't their day as Ponty's second goal coincided with heavy rain and 3 further goals followed in quick succession to finish 5-0 to the home side. Overall an encouraging first half performance should set the team up for the season if they can maintain that form. Ben Stevens in goal single handily kept the score down in the second half and Callum Preece was excellent throughout.

Final Score

Pontardawe Blacks 5, Cimla Rovers 0
