Under 12's Match Reports
This is the first season of Junior football for the team, and to be honest, whilst I had many a nightmare about it, the team have so far proven to be quite at home with eleven-a-side.
With the first game of the season postponed our first match against Lonlas soon put any reservations I had well and truly out of my mind. Cimla kicked off the match with a display of football worthy of a premiership side. An effort that was soon rewarded with 2 goals within the first 3 minutes of the match. Whilst Cimla maintained the pressure, Lonlas came back with a goal just before half time. As the second half kicked of, Cimla maintained their game which resulted in a further two goals. Final Score Cimla 4 Lonlas 1.
The next match was soon to turn my world upside down when Cimla played host to Onllwyn. In contrast to their first match, a disorganised Cimla soon conceded a goal. Whilst they battled to try and equalise, the score remained the same at half time. Despite a bit of tough talk during the half time break, the team still seemed to lack the same spirit that I had seen in the first game, despite this Cimla were fortunate to redeem themselves with two goals in the second half to win the match 2 1
With two wins under their belts, Cimla next faced Cwrt Herbert. Cwrt Herbert having been a strong team in past seasons, I had some misgivings about this encounter based on the team’s performance against Onllwyn. Misgivings that were soon dismissed when the whistle blew. In true Cimla style, the team played some outstanding football. Despite a number of attempts on goal, Cimla were unfortunate to concede a goal. Determined not to go down without a fight, Cimla soon had the reward they deserved. A further 3 goals sealed the game for Cimla. Final score Cwrt Herbert 1 Cimla 4
In atrocious conditions, Cimla played host to Pontardawe. In previous seasons, Pontardawe have been something of a black cloud for Cimla. As the game kicked off, Cimla seemed a little unsettled, a factor that has been present in every encounter with Pontardawe. A factor that enabled Pontardawe to go a goal ahead. Having conceded the goal, Cimla seemed to come to life. Whilst they battled to equalise, the score remained the same at half time. Despite the conditions, the team seemed more determined as the second half kicked off. Determination that soon paid off with an equalising goal from Ashleigh Langdon. A further two goals from Alex Sly put Cimla firmly in the driving seat. The tension in the match increased when Cimla conceded a penalty. Thanks to goalkeeper Sam Thomas the score remained the same at 3-1. During the final minutes of the match, a momentary lapse by the Cimla defence resulted in a goal. Final Score Cimla 3 Pontardawe 2
Paul and I would like to congratulate the team on an outstanding start to the season. Four wins in as many matches is with out doubt something to be proud of.
